Shioi Construction Inc. (SCI) has been contracted by the County of Kauai to construct a new triangular multi-use building for sporting events at Hanapepe Stadium. The building comprises of a ticket booth, food and beverage concession stand, kitchen prep area, and bathrooms. “When this facility is completed, it will support many community organizations and give our sports teams a rallying point on and off the field,” stated Mayor Derek Kawakami as reported by The Garden Island.

The unique triangular building structure consists of 8" CMU exterior and interior walls, 24” diameter concrete columns that support the glulam beam roof framing with an 80mil single-ply roof membrane. A decorative FRP trellis on all three sides adds a distinctive architectural feature. Finishes of the building include overhead service doors, aluminum security screens, pass thru windows, stainless steel countertops, stainless steel fixtures, drywall, and EIFS ceilings.

The project’s complexities include the building's triangular design, the intricate cuts needed at the corners of the building, and the first FRP trellis system of its kind on the island of Kauai. Construction completion is July 2024.
