Congratulations to the 2024 Kenneth Shioi Memorial Scholarship recipients Destrey Shibuya and Don RB Bumanglag.  Destrey began his civil engineering studies at Wooster College in Ohio, and will be a senior in the civil engineering program at the University of Hawaii, Manoa this fall.  He is the son of Kathy and Scott Shibuya. Don will begin his second year as a carpentry technology major at Kauai Community College this fall. He is the son of Marilyn and Ronald Bumanglag.

Shioi Construction President Roy Shioi was able to award and congratulate Destrey and Don at the recent Contractors Association of Kauai meeting.

The Kenneth Shioi Memorial Scholarship was established by Kenneth Shioi’s family to honor the memory of the longtime general contractor and founder of Shioi Construction. Born in Makaweli, Kauai, Kenneth grew his successful contracting firm with a 7th-grade education, yet he valued education and encouraged all those around him to get a higher education.
