The Waimea Canyon Middle School covered playcourt that Shioi Construction was contracted to build was dedicated in March 2020. The Garden Island newspaper reported that Waimea Canyon Middle School Principal Melissa Speetjens described the covered playcourt as a multi-function structure because the school will be using it for physical education and other school functions. The community will be able to enjoy some of its functions suitable for the structure’s architecture.

Shioi's work scope included all of the site work, masonry, and concrete footing; installing new AC units; sheathing on the roof and walls of the metal nuilding; interior electrical and concrete at the stage, playcourt, and sidewalks around the building; and installation of the sound system, play equipment (basketball backstops and hoops and volleyball posts), fencing, and flooring.
