This summer, Shioi Construction Inc. replaced the flooring in all three of Hale Halawai Ohana O Hanalei’s main buildings. The floors were more than 25 years old and in dire need of renovation. Hale Halawai received a grant from the Atherton Foundation to purchase flooring materials, and Shioi Construction donated all of the installation labor.

The new flooring helped Hale Halawai accomplish their goal of clearing out the original office space and converting it into another classroom for a homeschool group, an additional space for the afterschool keiki program, and a space for general community use. Hale Halawai’s Executive Director Kati Conant said, "With this generous donation of time, skill, and aloha, the new space is more inviting and available to our whole community. Mahalo, Shioi Construction!"

Hale Halawai is a nonprofit organization located in Hanalei. It is a cultural community center that serve as a venue for a variety of services, classes, programs, events, and Hawaiian cultural programs.
