Kealaula on Pua Loke Welcomes First Residents

The County of Kauai's Kealaula on Pua Loke Supportive Housing Development recently welcomed its first residents. Shioi Construction is proud to be the general contractor on the project, which broke ground in February 2020.

Kealaula on Pua Loke consists of 16 single-story duplex buildings, each containing two 1-bedroom or studio units with its own bathroom and kitchen, totaling 29 units and one community building. It will provide shelter and support services for houseless families.

The administration selected Women in Need as its partner in Kaua‘i’s ‘Ohana Zone project. Women in Need is an established Hawai‘i non-profit that operates existing transitional housing facilities on Kaua‘i and O‘ahu. Women in Need will manage the facility and provide necessary social services touching on substance abuse, re-entry from incarceration, domestic violence, parenting life skills, and employment services.
